System Of The Undead

Chapter 329: Story’s Conclusion PT. 3

Chapter 329: Story’s Conclusion PT. 3

Sam was seen on the ground, bloodied and unconscious but this wasn’t the most terrifying thing about this sight but rather, his severed limbs by his side.

Sam was semi-conscious but this wasn’t what was most terrifying aspect of his condition, Sam had no hands attached to his body.

He had lost to this creature but Sam didn’t leave it unscathed, the creature was injure terribly with wounds all over its body but nothing that could halt it from carrying out its function.

Sam looked at the scythe, it was covered in his blood and he simply chuckled.

He didn’t know it was possible for anything to be this strong but this only excited him.

Sam was effectively a cripple and couldn’t defend himself anymore but why wasn’t he dead?

Well, that would only be a matter of time because the blood oozing from his wounds were so much that the ground had absorbed it like soggy pasta.

It burrowed deep into the earth until it made contact with one of the many tendrils running through it.

Then something happened, an abnormality, a break in what was supposed to happen.

The moment Sam’s blood made contact with it, the pink hue instantly changed to red and it began to flicker like it was seeking stability.

The creature about to deal the finishing blow to Sam was visibly rattled by this, confirming that this wasn’t something that was supposed to happen.

Sam noticed this, the creature had dropped its guard because it assumed that there was no way Sam could harm it.

It was right seeing as Sam had no limbs attached to his arms but he had one thing that most people wished they did,

The unwavering need to kill anything and everything that could bring him to such a state.

Sam didn’t know what was happening but the moment it turned red, Sam could feel a strange surge of energy course through his veins.

All the pain he felt just a moment ago disappeared from his body and Sam’s eyes glowed red.

"Well, would you fucking look at that!?" Sam exclaimed and the blink of an eye, appeared behind the zombie with a piece of its flesh stuck within his mouth.

"I don’t know about you but I feel fucking good!" Sam said and flickering color finally settled as the tunnel took on a crimson color.

"This is wrong," The creature said, ignoring the gashing wound on his neck, Sam clearly severed an artery with his teeth but it didn’t even register feeling any pain as blood gushed out of its neck.

"You’re a sturdy one..." Sam complimented it but Sam wasn’t bothered by the fact that he had no hands but rather, he was focused on all the ways he could kill the zombie before him.

The zombie was still leagues above Sam and with no arms, Sam had little to no ways to defend himself.

But just before the zombie could land a blow, the tendrils from the tunnel shot out and restrained the creature.

Sam was shocked by this development but he didn’t have time to ponder on what was going on.

He had to take the opening and Sam, having already dealt damage to the neck, was able to kick the head clean off with a spinning upper kick right the lower chin that sent the head crashing against the ceiling of the tunnel.

The moment that was done, Sam dropped to his knees, the strength in his body fading as the hue of the fragment returned to being pink.

Sam lost too much blood and this meant his body was on the verge of shutting down as he dropped to his knees before slumping to the ground face first into the ground, losing consciousness at that moment.

There was no explaining what had happened but there was no doubt that Sam’s blood had caused some abnormal behaviour from the parasite but why was that?

However, it had returned to its original color but Sam had taken down the enemy at the cost of his arms.

"Clementine..." This was the final word that escaped his lips but it looked like his part was done.

-

Jason felt what Sam did, he noticed the abnormal aberration but he didn’t look surprised by it.

He also noticed that Schneider’s movement had stopped.

However, Schneider was too far out to return to the tunnel in time so this meant he had to make a decision.

He could return and send these three creatures with him to face Jason or he faces Jason and sends these three creatures to see what had happened because the death of his henchmen was registered.

Jason cut down his option because he knew the Nexus would be of no use if it had no control of the outcome.

He didn’t need to wait long as Schneider made his choice, it sent the evolved humans with him back to the tunnel as it headed right at Jason.

Jason smirked because everything was going according to plan but he still had to remain focused.

The greatest battle was about to begin because Schneider’s speed increased tremendously, it couldn’t be a car or even a power bike, he was simply too fast.

"Y-You have finally done it, haven’t you?" Jason said, clearly speaking to himself.

"You have decided to take this seriously," Jason completed.

[[Synchronization In Progress!]]

Chronos was trying to take control of his lesser variant within Jason and Jason had no plans on stopping it.

"C-Chronos, I want you to let it. Do not resist. It has been forced to use its full power in a failing vessel so that should speed up its deteriorating," Jason muttered.

His system obeyed without a moment’s hesitation, Jason wasn’t the boy it could trick into doing things he didn’t wish to do.

He had full control over himself and the system that most would consider a curse.

[[Synchronization Complete!]]

And the moment that happened, Jason felt his body become heavy like a hacker was trying to override his nervous system.

{{I have found you...}}

Chronos informed Jason and all Jason could do was laugh at the absurdity of the situation.

The fragment in Jason might have been made into his own but it was still a part of Chronos.

This meant that everything it learned about Jason was transferred to him, every single little detail and exactly what Jason has been up to.

It was five minutes away and Jason knew that there was no way for him to avoid this.

Five minutes went by in a flash but the sight that Jason saw was something that he didn’t recognize.

Schneider’s face was already rotting, Jason could tell that Chronos was becoming desperate.

Even the teeth were gone, they must have fallen out of Schneider’s mouth.

"You are full of tricks," Schneider said but Jason chuckled upon hearing this.

"But it is over, I don’t know what it is you think you have under your sleeve but the Nexus is mine!" Chronos barked but Jason wasn’t fazed by his words and simply stared at him blankly.

"I-I thought the Nexus was an ability that bolstered my overall physical attributes but I realized this was false. The Nexus was never an ability to use on myself, the Nexus was the pathway to everything conceivable and the only reason you didn’t kill me back then was because you needed me alive. You never wanted the Nexus, did you?" Jason questioned but this was clearly rhetorical.

"Y-You wanted me," Jason hit the hammer on the nail with this observation but Schneider had control over his body right now so Jason was at his mercy.

"You have seen it?" Chronos asked, clearly surprised by this revelation as he began to walk towards Jason.

With a gesture of his hand, Jason was brought to his knees, this was more telepathic than it was physical. Jason couldn’t overcome the influence on his body with sheer willpower either.

"It doesn’t matter what you saw, it is over now," Chronos said, placing its hand on Jason but unknown to it, all the memories it had assimilated didn’t include what Jason had been up to the past year, all it had to fill in that space was redundant mundane activities.

"At last, this world will be mine," Chronos muttered but Jason grabbed his wrist the moment it made contact with his head.

"CHRONOS NOW!" He screamed at the top of his lungs, he shouldn’t be able to move.

[[Assimilation in progress!]]

"Y-You made one mistake, Chronos..." Jason said, slowly getting to his feet.

"I-I did not just see the future, I become the future... And in that future, we both died," Jason said with a satisfied smile on his face.

"I-I am your tombstone," Jason completed as the energy was absorbed from his hand and into Jason but Jason’s form gradually changed.

[Infection: 80%!]

By absorbing Chronos, there was no way the infection wouldn’t spread, there was no escaping it.

"I-I’m sorry Rachel, it looks like I won’t be able to keep my promise," Jason conceded as he loud out a painful shriek that echoed far into the distance.

[Infection: 95%!]
